The empty shuttle launchpad, ready to be filled by Endeavor. Endeavor will be on standby to launch for Atlantis, which will be servicing the Hubble Space Telescope. Due to O-ring failures and heat-shield damage caused by falling insulation from the external shuttle tank, single shuttle flights are now deemed too dangerous unless they are to the ISS. Another shuttle has to be ready to act as a lifeboat.
