01.04.2006 07:00 - Mysterious Cylinder Found In Cologne
Tunnel-builders on the new Nörd-Sud line of the Cologne U-bahn have been puzzled by their discovery of a large cylinder.
Originally, when uncovered, the cylinder was considered to be an unexploded WWII bomb, which lead to the Altstadt being evacuated. Bomb experts pronounced the object safe, as it was definitely no known type of bomb. In fact, they have pronounced it to be beyond their experience. Further excavation has shown the cylinder to be considerably bigger than originally thought, with a diameter of 1.5 metres and a length of 4. Further puzzlement was generated by the discovery of the remains of a number of skeletons around the cylinder, which have been proven to be of a type of prehuman ape, although not of any type previously known. Further investigations are being undertaken, and an attempt will be made to enter the cylinder today, under the supervision of Dr. Nigel Kneale.
