When I was about 12, I saw the following in a book of photographs of World War I, and it has stayed with me ever since. I've occasionally ignored the advice in these lines, almost always been to my detriment. I reckon a couple of people could do with meditating over this.
A wise old owl lived in a tree.
The less he said the more he'd see.
The less he said the more he heard.
Soldiers should be like that old bird.
