22.02.2005 09:29 - No More Green Cards.
I went to the Ausländeramt today, to renew my Aufenthaltserlebnis. First of all, they\'d moved the office. There is no longer one in Ehrenfeld, so we had to go all the way to the Bezirksamt in Nippes and wait until 8am for it to open.
However, once there I got a pleasant surprise. Since the 1st January, members of an EU-state no longer have to have an aufenthaltserlebnis. I just have to have a piece of paper with the Bezirksamt stamp on it.
This means that I am now a permanent resident.
