Nope, not the Senator, but the guitar.
Last night I took my black Gypsy (Oo-er) to the Jazz band rehearsal. I started taking my souped-up cheapo Jazz copy bass (which now features better pickups and machineheads) again as I wanted to try it out, and because I wanted to get used to the longer scale-length. The trouble is, it weighs a ton, and the Epiphone Sheraton I was taking to play guitar on isn\'t much lighter. So this time I took the gypsy. And you know what? I\'d forgotten what a lovely little guitar it is. It knocks the Crappyphone Sheraton into a cocked hat for playability, sound and all-around fun, although it had problems staying in tune (I suspect the g-string is a bit rusty - it sounded \"dead\" and kept going flat, so I\'m going to change the strings) - but then the Sheraton is heavier, bigger, needs a good setup, a clean-up and the machineheads are crap. The gypsy sounded great even through the crappy Fender Princeton tranny amp that I use at the Jazz school. Amps and instruments are normally laid-on at the school, but being left-handed I have to bring my own instrument.
I\'m looking forward to playing it again on Thursday, when Peter and I meet up with two other players for a rehearsal, to try and re-invigorate \"DeadEndStreet\".
Let\'s Rock!
